Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim

It's the era for the ladies to outshine the men. In the past months, we have been reporting numerous female artists and all of em' are as capable as anyone you think who can sing.

2008 debut from the young British folk singer/songwriter Laura Marling, Alas I Cannot Swim was released today. Her music might attract fans of Kate Nash, Cat Power or Adele.

She's been rocking selling out clubs and getting fame from her scrumptious vocals.

Tilly And The Wall

Tilly and the Wall is an indie pop group from Nebraska. They are particularly noted for having a tap dancer, Jamie Pressnall, instead of a drummer. The band has been spending time on an upcoming third release which is already under progress for weeks now. They have also documented some of the writing process in with short video clips which can be found on the band myspace.

Setting Sun - To The Next Place

A musical project by Gary Levitt and Erica Quitzow, Setting Sun will be releasing their third record entitled To The Next Place on May 6, a week before the release of Quitzow's new album.

With an intimate lyrical style, each word is slowly tasted before being spoken and set against driving beats, lashing cellos, soothing instrumental interludes and a rich cortege of violins, synthesizers, and homemade sounds. All the while never losing it's focus on the song with it's layers of edgy counterpoint melody, lifting harmonies and soundscapes.

The album was self produced with many friends lending their playing skills. Most noticeably on the record are the string arrangements expertly played by band- and label-mate Erica Quitzow. Set up in a spare room of the house, Quitzow and Setting Sun share a home studio, Young Love Recording Studio. Initially built to record themselves, Gary soon began taking on outside clients. “I love helping other artists work on their music,” says Levitt. “If they come in with just bare-bones sketches of songs and want to expand on them, I'll come up with ideas that add to the songs but don’t compete with them.” Gary also plays bass and sings harmonies for Erica’s band Quitzow.

Quitzow - Art College

Art College is the upcoming release by multi-instrumentalist Erica Quitzow. The new record is a collection of sing along pop song collages with orchestral arrangement over hip hop, electro-clash, and downtempo beats decorated with adventurous harmonies.

Instrumentation is performed primarily by Quitzow herself at her home studio, and was produced by Gary Levitt.

Switchfoot Live @ KL Convention Centre

Relating to one of our event listings on the right, we would like to remind you that Switchfoot is performing live at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre tomorrow and for those whose going for this gig, please be on time, 6.30pm it is. As for those whose not aware of this, I guess you're still able to get the tickets on the day itself, not too sure about this, but you can try your luck.

Too bad, we can't make it for this due to the hectic deadlines from work, so, yeah. You guys enjoy the show and tell us all about it.
