HEALTH - HEALTH//DISCO

HEALTH, the noise quartet from L.A is set to release their remix album entitled HEALTH//DISCO on May 13. This upcoming piece feature remix versions of HEALTH's music from their self-titled released - transforming them to something a little user-friendly to dance floors. Featuring remixes by Acid Girls, Crystal Castles, Pictureplane, Thrust Lab, Narctrax and many more, seeing them reinventing and remixing the songs on their own preferences.

I'm not sure about you, but it reminisces back to the era when my 16-bit Super Nintendo was still in perfectly fine working condition. Super funky!

A comment provided by members of HEALTH in an unknown situation....
“This is not your typical remix album. Every artist on the record was hand selected and contacted by us with the hope of combining our sounds and musical ideas with those of electronic artists we admire, several of them doing remixes for the first time. It is not about market saturation or crossover appeal. It is purely about the music, and we are proud of it. This is an album, and meant to be listened to as one. The goal of this record is not only to present all these songs at once, but also to ensure that they are not forgotten in the constantly updating, content hungry internet music world.”

Peter Morén - The Last Tycoon

Peter Morén is the lead vocalist for Swedish indie pop group Peter, Bjorn and John. The Last Tycoon is Moren's highly anticipated first solo effort released under Quarter Stick Records.

What you're about to listen is something totally different from what you heard from Morén's band. No more Young Folks, no more Up Against The Wall.

In this album, you will experience the down-tempo side of Morén, soaking you with folk acoustic materials with his guitar and a little assistance from synths, vibraphones, percussion, musical saw and beats arranged with a drum machine.

If you're expecting something to dance with, skip this. This is strictly for pillow talk sessions.

Tilly and The Wall - O

Didn't I mentioned a little sum' sum' on Tilly and The Wall releasing a new album soon previously? And here it is, the indie pop band from Nebraska will release O on June 7 under Team Love.

"O is Tilly and the Wall’s most cohesive, sonically experimental album yet. In addition to building a tack piano for certain songs, the band toyed with percussion much more than their previous efforts, recording Jamie’s taps through a variety of different amplifiers and floors to give each song its own distinct rhythm. With its massive dose of high energy and hip-shaking attitude, this album will remind you of you why you fell for Tilly and the Wall in the first place." - Fanatic.

The band released a digital EP entitled Beat Control was released earlier as a teaser for this upcoming album.

They impress me. Their beat controlled my entire body. Nothing too complicated. Simply just plain spectacular vocals on a catchy rhythm beat. A recommendation by the labourer.

DJ Nesh Heads To New Club

So we heard it was DJ Nesh's last night with Laundry Bar on April 12, therefore we thought we drop by and bid farewell to the charming R&B DJ before he move on to spin for his new employer, Euphoria by MOS. We aren't sure about the full particulars yet, but we sure to keep you updated on that.

Meanwhile, the resident spot for the Urban Politics night will be replaced by DJ Soya (we not too sure whether he still spins for Cafe Flam, but he was a resident there previously) continuing Nesh's musicology quest in bringing upbeat hip hop and R&B tunes to the loving people in Laundry. Swing by if you have the time.

Here's a brief recap on what happened last night. Nesh and Soya dropping some sick mad tunes for energetic people on the dance floor to groove. In the middle, Nesh invited Toronto's MC Vandal and Masia One for a freestyle session to hype up the party. Later on, Nesh did a little beatboxing demonstration to the crowd.

Colin Meloy - Colin Meloy Sings Live!

Colin Meloy is a singer/songwriter from Oregon, best known fronting indie rock band The Decemberists.

Colin Meloy Sings Live! was his first live album recorded during his solo tour in 2006. The album contains a collection of works from the The Decemberists, Meloy's earlier band Tarkio, live banter and covers of The Smiths, Fleetwood Mac and Shirley Collins.

This album was only released yesterday under Kill Rock Stars.

Strictly acoustic set and fantastic vocals.

Fleet Foxes

Fleet Foxes is a quintet band from Seattle. On June 3, the band will be releasing a self-titled debut album released under Sub Pop. The band described their music as "baroque harmonic pop jams". So far, they have been highly praised by numerous medias on their EP, Sun Giant.

70s inspired folk mashing up with electrifying leads and harmonic echoic vocals, it just can't get better with such perfect blend. 21-year old songwriter Robin Pecknold surely impressed me of his talented capabilities to compose such incredible music with fellow bandmates.

"Drawing influence from the traditions of folk music, pop, choral music and gospel, sacred harp singing, West Coast music, traditional music from Ireland to Japan, film scores, and their NW peers, Fleet Foxes ranges in subject matter from the natural world and familial bonds to bygone loves and stone cold graves." - Sub Pop

“All we strove for with this record was to make something that was an honest reflection of who we are, citizens of the western United States who love all kinds of music and above all else love singing,” a comment by Pecknold.

Sample their music via MySpace.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I - IV

Ghost I - IV is the sixth album by Nine Inch Nails. The album contains 36 instrumental tracks separated into four divisions entitled Ghosts. This is their first album without attached to a record label contract. It was first released on March 2 as a free digital download.

NIN offered this album in numerous forms from a free digital download at their site to a $300 ultra deluxe limited edition box set, where 2,500 copies were made and sold out once it was announced. Other formats include a two-disc release, a vinyl release and a deluxe edition release.

Trent Reznor sought assistance and contributions from Error's Atticus Ross, premier producer Alan Moulder, Modwheelmood's Alessandro Cortini, King Crimson's Adrian Belew and The Dresden Dolls' Brian Viglione, together they built this superb album packed with exploding rhythms.

"This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams," said Reznor.

Ghosts I–IV features a wide assortment of musical instruments, including piano, guitars, bass, synthesizers, marimbas, tambourines, banjos, and xylophones, with many of these instruments being sampled and distorted electronically. Percussion instruments, contributed primarily by Brian Viglione, were largely constructed out of house-hold items.

This is one of the most remarkable work Reznor has done.
